1. Consultations update

  • We received 4 new requests for consultation: Diffusion MRI of Complex White Matter and Connectivity, Evaluation of Brown Adipose Tissue in HIV-Lipodystrophy (with Slicer), prostate cancer imaging (with Slicer) and A Cognitive Neuroscience Framework for Understanding and Treating Mood Disorders. All have been assigned.

2. What is Eagle-i and how can we contribute?

  • For those not familiar yet with the Eagle-i (https://www.eagle-i.org/home/) project, Randy gave a description. It seems to be a way to implement the sharing of our expertise about imaging biomarkers and their use in clinical trial. During the meeting on May 24, we will have one of the Eagle-i team member give us a demo of the project.

3. Y4 Budget

  • We will be working with flat funding. very important, all consultations must be enter in the JIRA system. Any justification for the budget (new project, education etc) must be very specific.
  • Simon will write a proposal for the cross-calibration project with some practical clinical applications.

4. Education

  • During the February RSNA Radiology Informatics Committee (RIC) meeting, the committee agreed that our courses were a success at the RSNA 2010 Annual Meeting and they would like to repeat this courses at RSNA 2011. As was the case last year, the three courses will be and hour and a half long and offered once during the week. The two hands-on courses will be in a meeting room that has multiple computers for use by the attendees.
    • Quantitative Medical Imaging for Clinical Research and Practice (hands-on), Sunday, 11/27 from 11:00am-12:30pm.
    • 3D Interactive Visualization of DICOM Images for Radiology Applications (hands-on), Tuesday, 11/29 from 12:30pm-2:00pm
    • Lifecycle of an Imaging Biomarker: From Validation to Dissemination (didactic), Wednesday, 11/30 from 4:30pm-6:00pm
  • ACRIN meeting. There will be a whole afternoon of education about what is being done by the different CTSA in term of imaging (Wednesday September 21). We are asked to present a couple of success stories (education, consultation) and there will be time for demonstration of informatics tools. The group agrees that it is an important meeting since the new program officer(s) from the agency that will replace NCRR will be there. So far Annick, Valerie and Randy are scheduled to attend that meeting.

5. mi2b2

  • Randy gave an update on the mi2b2 project and the grant being submitted about a decision tool for pediatric neurologists.
